Defending Your Life
There was this movie from 1992 called Defending Your Life featuring the actors Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks. The premise was this:
“In an afterlife resembling the present-day US, people must prove their worth by showing in court how they have demonstrated courage.”
Thank you, your honors. Over the course of the following four days, I will attempt to show that Daniel Miller, while he’s a quality human being, is still held back by the fears that plague him lifetime after lifetime. I believe that I can show, without a shadow of a doubt, that he must once again be returned to Earth to work on his problem. May we begin in childhood, please? Could we go to 11419?
Crap. I need courage. Courage to do what I feel I can’t, shouldn’t, and normally would never even think to do. And then to see it paraded as video clips before me while lawyers duke it out for my soul? Ugh.
If this movie’s true then I’m screwed.
